Meet the Maker

Growing up, I was always a fashion lover. After studying psychology and performing as a circus artist, I eventually found myself working in wardrobe for a ballet company in Brisbane, whilst completing my Fashion Diploma.

My fashion education was inspiring, and just as equally deeply concerning. Opening my eyes to it's wasteful and unethical industrial processes.

And so, I took the step to start a fashion label with my personal values and aesthetic sensitivities at the core.

It wasn’t easy, the learning curve was steep. Setting up a home studio on a shoe string budget, plus learning the ins and outs, ups and down of running an independent, woman owned, micro business really tested my passion and resilience.

But here I am, firmly standing in my mission to make everyday wearables from vintage and dead-stock materials, made locally and in super small batches. And I am so happy to have you join me in this celebration of slow fashion.

The a hop and a skip Woman

The a hop and a skip woman is fun-loving, conscientious and engaged in the world around her.  She loves catching up with friends over coffee at the local weekend markets, exploring far-flung destinations and getting her art-fix at cultural festivals. Attuned to the simple pleasures in life, she surrounds herself with good friends, good place and good fashion.

Never a trend follower; instead she creates her own personal style by pairing pieces from independent makers with designer pieces and one-of-a-kind vintage finds. She is an ethical consumer, aware that her purchasing decisions can have either a constructive or a destructive impact on people and planet.

A lover of natural fibres for their comfort to wear at home and for travel. A proud outfit-repeater, op-shopper, supporter of local businesses in her community and favours having a well-edited collection of special wardrobe pieces which can be layered and styled according to the season and occasion.
